Evidence note on this goal

Protocol evidence level (from existing goal data): Moderate

  • Most injectable GHK-Cu data is preclinical; human trials are primarily with topical formulations
  • Injectable GHK-Cu causes significant injection site pain (PIP) limiting patient compliance
  • Copper metabolism must be monitored - excess copper is toxic (especially relevant for those with Wilson disease)
  • Not FDA-approved as a drug; cosmetic products containing GHK-Cu are regulated as cosmetics, not therapeutics
