Mechanism of Action

Matrixyl (specifically Matrixyl 3000, which contains Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) is a cosmetically engineered blend of matrikine peptides. Matrikines are messenger peptides that regulate cell activities by interacting with specific receptors.

Instead of paralyzing muscles (like Argireline), Matrixyl acts on fibroblasts in the dermis. It tricks the skin into believing that collagen has broken down, which strongly stimulates the neocollagenesis process. This significantly ramps up the production of collagen I, III, IV, fibronectin, and hyaluronic acid, thickening the skin and filling in static wrinkles from the inside out.

Should I use Matrixyl or Argireline?
They do entirely different things. Argireline treats dynamic wrinkles (caused by movement, like forehead lines) by relaxing the muscle. Matrixyl treats static wrinkles by physically rebuilding the collagen matrix of the skin. They are often used together.
