Vladimir Khatskelevich Khavinson (1946–2024) spent five decades at what became the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology arguing a simple, stubborn idea: aging is, in part, a failure of tissue-specific peptide signals, and those signals can be restored. The first products were not “peptides” in the Instagram sense. They were Cytamins - polypeptide fractions isolated from a named organ of young animals. Later commercial refinements of those fractions are sold as Cytomaxes (Cytomed / NPCRIZ): still mixtures, still oral capsules, still defined by the source organ rather than a single sequence. When the group identified short active motifs inside those mixtures, they synthesized them as Cytogens - di-, tri-, and tetrapeptides with a one-letter code (KE, AEDG, KED, EDR, KEDP, and so on).
That three-layer stack is the whole map. Cytamin / pharmaceutical extracts (Thymalin, Epithalamin, Cortexin, Retinalamin, Prostatilen) are the clinic-era injectables registered in the former Soviet pharmacopeia. Cytomaxes are the capsule complexes Cytomed still lists as a 21-SKU organ line. Cytogens are the defined synthetics. English-language educators, including Brenden Henry’s public writing at Peptide Science Institute, add a further commercial distinction - later analog SKUs (N-acetyl, amidate, “V2” complexes) sold as more stable or more diverse than the original Cytomed lots. That last layer is a product taxonomy, not a Khavinson paper. We describe it so readers are not gaslit by three bottles with the same organ name. - Honluten - Target: Lungs. Lung parenchyma (catalog SKU; not on the e-peptide 21-poster). Honluten is a lung-extract Cytomax-style SKU in Western catalogs. It is not one of the 21 names on the public e-peptide Cytomax poster (Taxorest is the bronchial-mucosa complex there). It is also not Chonluten, the lung/bronchi cytogen - the names collide on purpose in sloppy menus.
- Cortexin - Target: Brain. Cerebral cortex. Cortexin is a CIS pharmaceutical cortical polypeptide extract used in neurology wards. It is adjacent to the 41, not padded into it. Cerluten is the Cytomax complex; Cortagen is AEDP.
- Retinalamin - Target: Retina. Retina. Retinalamin is the pharmaceutical retinal extract - including parabulbar use in CIS ophthalmology. Adjacent to the 41. Visoluten is the Cytomax; Normoftal is the cytogen.
- Prostatilen - Target: Prostate. Prostate. Prostatilen (Vitaprost/Samprost) is the pharmaceutical prostate extract used in CIS urology. Adjacent to the 41. Libidon is Cytomax; Prostamax is KEDP.
- Thymulin - Target: Thymus. Thymus (circulating thymic hormone). Thymulin (facteur thymique sérique, FTS) is a zinc-dependent nonapeptide thymic hormone from a French discovery path. Adjacent immune biology, not one of the 41 Khavinson SKUs. Do not merge with Thymalin or Thymogen.
- N-Acetyl Epitalon Amidate - Target: Pineal gland. Pineal (parent AEDG). NAEA is a stability-capped analog of Epitalon (N-acetyl, C-amide). It is not a Khavinson original, not Epithalamin, and not proof that parent telomerase papers transfer.
- GPL Man - Target: Multi-system. Multi-system (male kit). GPL Man is a boxed geroprotector kit, not a peptide. The kit bill of materials is pancreas, vessels, brain, liver, pineal, and testes - Suprefort, Ventfort, Cerluten, Svetinorm, Endoluten, and Testoluten.
- GPL Femme - Target: Multi-system. Multi-system (female kit). GPL Femme is a boxed geroprotector kit: thyroid, vessels, brain, liver, and pineal - Thyreogen, Ventfort, Cerluten, Svetinorm, Endoluten. It is not HRT and not Zhenoluten.
- Pinalex - Target: Eye. Eye (commercial tablet blend). Pinalex is a commercial eye tablet that mixes ocular peptides with antioxidant cofactors (lutein, astaxanthin, and related label items). It is not Retinalamin, not Normoftal, and not a Cytomed Cytomax.
